Apply for 2025 iheed Scholarship!
IOMSC is pleased to offer two scholarships for the I-heed Diploma in Occupational Medicine (see https://www.iheed.org/rcpi-diploma-in-occupational-medicine-brochure.pdf). The scholarships have been provided by RCPI and by Dr Will Ponsonby. The scholarships will be awarded to two doctors residing in a low/middle income country, particularly in a country where Occupational Health as a specialty currently does not exist. One scholarship also provides support for reading materials to support study.
The I-heed programme is aimed at all who wish to consult on health and wellbeing in the workplace and manage patients with work related problems at a non-specialist level. Participants should be qualified doctors registered with their respective professional body. The Programme will be conducted online and solely in English. Participants are required to be proficient in English and to have access to a laptop with a microphone, speakers, webcam, and reliable broadband coverage. The Programme is designed to give a deeper understanding of Occupational Medicine, with a focus on conducting assessments, arriving at diagnoses, and applying relevant legislative and ethical frameworks to support patients and their employers. By the end of the Programme, learners will be able to:
Conduct appropriate employee health and workplace assessments in order to identify, evaluate and manage the health effects of physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial hazards in the workplace
Be able to recognise and evaluate disease or injury in relation to the workplace
Identify and interpret ethical and legislative frameworks relevant to occupational health
Evaluate the relationship between health and fitness to work, including assessment of fitness for duty
Evaluate and communicate occupational health information to a variety of audiences
